NSW Energy Saving Scheme - Offer

The New South Wales Energy Savings Scheme¹ (NSW ESS) is designed to increase energy efficiency opportunities and rewards organisations that undertake eligible projects that reduce electricity consumption and associated emissions.

The NSW ESS establishes legislated annual energy savings targets that must be met by electricity retailers² through the creation and surrender of Energy Savings Certificates (ESCs).

The tradable ESCs are created by Accredited Certificate Providers (ACPs) when they carry out Recognised Energy Savings Activities (RESAs). Each ESC is equivalent to one tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e). The NSW ESS website can be accessed: http://www.ess.nsw.gov.au/

Who Pays For the Energy Savings

While some observers may interpret the ESS as another form of government taxation it is in reality a community funded subsidy paid by all users of electricity whether they be commercial or residential. Although electricity retailers have an obligation to purchase ESCs, they do not simply absorb this additional cost. The cost is passed on to all consumers as part of their electricity bills, so in essence we all pay for it.

CRI – an Accredited Certificate Provider

CRI and the IPART certified energy efficient technology it uses, allows us to generate ESCs under the NSW Energy Savings Scheme.

Specifically, recipients of energy efficient equipment sign over their rights to ESCs to ACPs such as CRI, negating the need to sell these into the spot or forward markets themselves, and significantly reducing the cost of installing the certified energy efficient technology – such as up 80% discount on our T5 to T8 Fluro Conversion Kit.

If you have sites based in NSW with fluorescent tube lighting,
you need to know about and act on this subsidy.

Complete and return this Enquiry Form, call CRI on 9439 9990, or email info@noco2.com.au, to find out how you can benefit as a recipient of subsidised energy efficient technologies.

Alternatively, if you are a prospective ACP we can also help you commercialise your project.
