Glenelg Vet

Here at Glenelg Vet Clinic, we don’t just care about the animals we see, we care about all the ones we don’t see too!! We believe that we all have a responsibility to look after our planet, after all it is not just our home but home to all our amazing animals species.  Climate change affects us all so it is up to us to take action and help save our environment.

Together with the Carbon Reduction Institute we conducted an audit, which calculated the greenhouse gas emissions we produced in running our Vet Clinic.  This does not just look at how much electricity we use or waste we generate but everything produced in the manufacturing and transport of products we sell and drugs we use.  The audit is comprehensive and even includes staff travel to and from work and in clinic recycling.

Glenelg Vet Clinic faired very well.  We are lucky to have staffs that are already committed to saving our environment through recycling and being energy efficient.  It also doesn’t hurt that Angus and Andrew are keen cyclists thereby reducing carbon emissions on their way to and from work!

But like most things in life we can do better.  The audit helps to highlight areas where we can implement changes to reduce our carbon footprint.  For those that we cannot avoid we purchase carbon credits from renewable energy projects to help offset our emissions.
We are proud to be the first Low Carbon Certified Vet Clinic in Australia, hopefully as the leader for our industry in Australia we will help inspire other Vet clinics to join us.
